Haw Park Wood

Haw Park Wood has historic links with the nearby Walton Hall Estate, once home to Charles Waterton, the famous seventeenth century naturalist and conservationist. One of his original wildlife observation hides still remains in the woodland. The woodland is designated a Site of Specific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve because of its value to wildlife. The area provides a range of habitats for several rare and important species of plants, beetles, newts, birds and butterflies.

Journeying through Haw Park Wood is a great way to extend your walk around Anglers Country Park or Wintersett Reservoir, being only a short distance away from both. It’s dog friendly and a great place to explore whilst enjoying the vast display of flora and fauna.
