A very interesting and enjoyable day at Castleford Museum on 16th July, working with archaeologists and historians on the Roman Castleford Uncovered digital interpretation project. The experts shared tips on how we could make our Roman interactive experience more authentic, my favourite advice was that the pigs in the scene were a bit ‘too pink and short legged, more post-industrial looking pigs’, so today our pigs will be getting a make over! We are currently recruiting a cohort of young people aged 13 to 17 from the Wakefield district area to work with us on producing a dark adventure video game prototype in a week! If you know any young people passionate about working in, or learning more, about Game Design, Storytelling, or Digital Art/Character design then this could be a good opportunity for some hands on experience working with industry professionals. Villiers Revealed, our latest digital exhibition created in collaboration with Culture Leicestershire and staff/ students from the University of Nottingham, invites you to explore hidden LGBTQ+ narratives that haven’t always been told, but have always been here. An interpretation of the unique physical exhibition at Melton Carnegie Museum, Villiers Revealed features interactive 3D scans, photography, audio, short films, and is accessible across all devices. Today (02/07/25) we had two young people (16 & 17 years old) on work experience. It was straight into a busy morning of doing some very good photogrammetry of fossils- after 100’s of photos were taken of five fossils we then turned them into 3D digital objects for a project on climate change. In the afternoon we visited WX Wakefield to see the Jason Wilsher-Mills exhibition, and did some scoping out of ideas as research for a new summer narrative game project. More details coming soon!

Thank you to the #MDFF2025 festival for selecting our film and to everyone who has supported this project so far, its amazing to see it being recognised internationally.

The fourth of June 2025 marks the 5th year anniversary of Evie Godfrey becoming part of our team. From starting off doing admin support, Evie has grown and flourished into an integral Project Worker & Illustrator/artist. We are super excited that ‘Streets of Change VR’ is making its Canadian premiere at FIVARS Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories 2025 in Toronto. Streets of Change VR is a powerful Virtual Reality film that shines a light on the often-overlooked lives of street homeless, challenging stigmas and stereotypes. Amid escalating homelessness and a housing crisis, the experience humanises rough sleepers, highlighting their resilience, sparking crucial and much needed conversations.

On 31st May we got to bring our ‘work in progress’ of ‘Roman Castleford Uncovered’ to over 225 visitors at Queen’s Mill Castleford- visitors of all ages enjoyed playing the video game discovering Roman objects, having a go with an augmented reality Roman solider and Roman helmets and exploring a reimagining of the aerial Roman landscape of the town. It was great to get support from Castleford Tigers players as well as Home Secretary and local MP Yvette Cooper.

We were very excited to bring our video installation film ‘Revealed: Triptych’ back to WX Wakefield for the annual With Banners Held High festival on Saturday 10th May. Revealed: Triptych pays homage to the resilience of mining communities from the 1984/85 Strike through to now.

After a highly successful tour experienced directly by over 3000 people on headsets, the award-winning ‘Streets of Change VR’ is now available to experience online as a 360° film. Through innovative storytelling ‘Streets of Change 360’ shares the stark realities of street homelessness in the UK, where the average age of death is just 46 for men and 42 for women. Inspired by real-life stories, this immersive 8.38 minute film challenges perceptions and brings urgent, often unseen narratives to light. Watch the 360° version now on YouTube!

A great day’s filming at Change Grow Live Northants on 10th April for ‘Breaking the Chains of Addiction’ film. The lived experience of addiction through to recovery that our participants are sharing is truly inspirational! Each journey of recovery is so different. If you want support reach out, it’s never too late to make positive change and there are some amazing services and people out there to help you.

We won “The Social Impact Award” at Sona Immersive Storytelling Festival in Pittsburgh for our VR experiences: ‘Streets of Change’ about street homelessness and ‘The Abandoned Library’ about climate change & displacement. “The Award Celebrates immersive works that address social, environmental or humanitarian issues”. We’ve really enjoyed being part of this inaugural festival with a brilliantly curated programme of amazing work from all over the globe, in a fantastic location at Carnegie Mellon University and have met some lovely people, struck up new friendships and potential collaborations.

We are delighted that two of our VR projects have been invited for exhibition in SONA’s inaugural year, a new Immersive Storytelling Festival based at Carnegie Mellon University. We will be exhibiting Streets of Change (One to One Development Trust) and The Abandoned Library (Dreaming Methods 2023). We will also be presenting a Creator Talk about our work and Judi will be a panellist exploring ‘Where do we go from here’. A big thank you to Creative Export Accelerator for supporting our trip.

We will be back at Wakefield’s iconic new destination, WX Wakefield, for Games Weekend (8th & 9th March) facilitated by Game Republic. Look out for team members Tiara & Gauri who will be heading up our stall. Come and say hello and try some cool games including our latest game Rollerbird!

The second part of our filming with spoken word artist and writer Clare Currie took place at the wonderful venue of Norwich Arts Centre. Clare’s writing and performance brought an amazing mix of energy, reflection, power and vulnerability to the stage which was a joy to film. Revealed Triptych is a rich digital visualisation with striking visuals, compelling audio that combines film, augmented reality and a video game to honour Wakefield’s rich mining heritage. A canary escapes from an underground coalmine revealing a multi-screen digital film projection using immersive graphics, documentary archive film and drone footage. Inspired by the 1984/85 Miners’ Strike to the present day. Revealed Triptych will be at the WX Wakefield opening event and will be available to experience from Friday 21st February to Sunday 2nd March. Read more about Revealed Triptych here.

Through sharing their stories of addiction through to recovery the participants in our latest documentary film ‘Breaking the Chains of Addiction’ are giving a great gift of knowledge, insight and lived experience to audiences. Ameena shared such a powerful personal story of transformation and hope, “pain into power” she describes it as. Her passion for life and helping others is contagious. ‘Breaking the Chains of Addiction’ will launch later in the year.

A cold day in Great Yarmouth filming Clare Currie for her forthcoming one woman show ‘Cold Snap’. Clare says “One-to-One Development Trust has been part of the creative team behind Cold Snap from its early iterations in 2019. I was delighted with initial films produced which centred around the netball court and was really pleased to receive funding late last year to enable me to work with One to One to finish the piece and develop it for touring“. We recently partnered with INSP to bring our virtual reality film ‘Streets of Change’ about homelessness to Glasgow, at the event Judi Alston, our CEO, was interviewed about the project for a feature article sent out to all the international network of street papers like Big Issue. An incredibly moving and inspiring night hosting an event with INSP ‘Changing the Narrative on Homelessness’. Streets of Change VR (challenging stereotypes and raising awareness on homelessness) was seen by lots of the guests, including Scottish singer/songwriter Callum Beattie (photographed), who said “Streets of Change should be shown in every classroom around the UK”. The sentiment of bringing Streets of Change to national and international audiences was echoed by participants at the event; the feedback has been amazing!

Hundreds of people attended the Light Up event at the National Coal Mining Museum over the weekend, enjoying our VR experience and helping us playtest the Rollerbird game. “Excellent work. The winners will be announced on 21st November 2024 at the GaMaYo event at WX, Wakefield.

We attended a great event in Sheffield hosted by Game Republic, Barclays Games & Creative, XR Stories and XR Network+ where we demoed and presented a talk entitled ‘Using technology to tell stories for social change‘. We received some really positive feedback from people who tried out our VR and games project/s or heard the talk by Judi Alston, CEO and Creative Director.

Powering Up Project was a finalist for Best National Pilot project in the HSJ (Health Service Journal) Patient Safety Awards. Team members Judi Alston and Tiara Ashworth represented One to One at the awards ceremony in Manchester, celebrating alongside others from the Powering Up team. Although we didn’t win, being a finalist as a small project in an arena of big hospital trusts was an amazing achievement! Find out more about the project here.

Our Earth Your Choice is a game about looking after the earth’s health and addressing climate change. It was co-produced with 25 young people aged 8 to 21 years old. Read more about the project here. This project was supported by Wakefield Council.

This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the prejudice and misconceptions rough sleepers face, helping to inspire more understanding and compassion through storytelling. We are very excited that ‘Revealed – The Pit Camp’ has been selected for BAFTA qualifying Bolton Film Festival (Wed 2nd Oct – Sun 6th Oct 2024). We love working with the team whose values align with ours in addressing and challenging health inequalities in young people.

We were the latest winner of the Merged Futures Award for our passion for using digital to break barriers and push boundaries in our projects. On 17th April, we previewed work in progress, ‘Revealed‘ – The Pit Camp VR’ and a pop up cinema at Open Studios at The Art House Wakefield it was an amazing day to talk to a mix of audiences of all ages and backgrounds to get feedback on our immersive story commemorating the 1984/5 Miners Strike. We received some fantastic feedback on the draft project! “Profoundly moving, evocative imagery and a range of voices which capture the wealth of experience and lives impacted”

Revealed – The Pit Camp pays homage to the sacrifices miners and their families made during the 1984/85 Miners Strike and the impact of this on the communities of Yorkshire and Derbyshire, UK. Using our own archive film, narration, audio recordings, soundscape, and ephemera, Revealed – The Pit Camp brings this time in history alive and relevant for audiences today. Watch the trailer here

A super busy day celebrating rugby league heritage over in Hull launching the Hull KR Virtual Museum funded by University of Hull, we had non stop attendance for 4 hours, we then showed the project to the Heritage Group of around 50 people at Craven Park.
