Charnwood Virtual Museum
A creative interpretation of Charnwood Museum's Community Curators exhibition
The Charnwood Community Curators Exhibition sits within the temporary exhibition space at Charnwood Museum in Loughborough. Community Curators is changing the way culture is interpreted, experienced and enjoyed by communities - co-curating exhibitions which explore and share what’s important to the people of Leicestershire
One to One Development Trust have created a globally-accessible online interpretation of this ground-breaking exhibition featuring five interchangeable virtual environments that showcase each exhibition in a way unique to the digital medium. Incorporating photos, illustrations, video and 3D scanned objects, the virtual museum explores:
Black Lives Matter Too - a local response to the challenges raised by BLM campaigns with the aim of making real and positive change; Do You See What I See? - looking at the history, heritage and culture through the eyes of local people who discovered objects have meaning far beyond their financial value; Stitching Traditions - lively group of South Asian ladies exploring heritage through fashion and textiles; My Special Sooty Collection - faced with learning difficulties, Esme shares a powerful story of how Sooty literally helped her to speak her first words; and Jola’s Polish Story - Jola shares her passion for her homeland and why she is so proud of her Polish heritage.
