Local Story Wakefield
An interactive resource celebrating community resilience and ideas for a greener future
Local Story gives a snapshot from Wakefield communities to the response of the Coronavirus Pandemic and explores ideas for a greener future.
It began in March 2020 just as the UK went into Lockdown and has been gathering stories and insight into Wakefield’s response to the crisis.
An interactive map of the District captures the effort of some organisations and groups who have actively responded to community need. Positive stories of resilience in how people are dealing with the challenges they have had to face include coordinated community action, people learning new skills and new finding new ways of working.
Local Story is exploring ideas for how local communities and people can address important issues around climate change, encouraging a greener more environmentally friendly way of life, and how the environment can help peoples physical and mental health.
Local Story is the Director of Public Health Anna Hartley's Annual Report 2020.
One to One Development Trust devised a two-minute film as a trailer with poet Matt Abbott for the Local Story archive which can be viewed below.
