Funded by XR Stories as part of their Demonstrators programme exploring how immersive technologies can be used within heritage, Revealed uses VR and other interactive digital platforms to create evocative scenes that tell the ‘hidden’ stories behind some of the coalfield's largest industries.

The project features footage and interviews from One to One Development Trust’s extensive film archive of the area combined with beautiful visuals, spoken word, narrative and a compelling soundtrack.

The tradition of storytelling around a campfire takes on a new twist through this story of struggle, resilience, and camaraderie. Revealed – The Pit Camp pays homage to the sacrifices miners and their families made during the 1984/85 Miners Strike and the impact of this on the communities of Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, UK. The Miners' Strike of 1984-85 was a defining moment in the history of British coal mining and the biggest industrial dispute in post-war Britain. As the audience explore the pit camp in VR, they are guided by visual triggers that reveal a story of reflection, unity, and hope.

Revealed– The Pit Camp brings this time in history alive and relevant for audiences today.
