An immersive digital experience that brings the story of Lagentium to life
Launched at Queen’s Mill, Castleford and then screened for a week in Castleford Museum, Roman Castleford Uncovered uses a combination of game design, film, photogrammetry and Augmented Reality to let visitors explore a digital interpretation of Castleford's Roman Fort, known as 'Lagentium'.
Along the way, audiences can uncover 3D scans of real artefacts from the museum collection, “buried” in the virtual landscape and available to explore up close. Developed in collaboration with Castleford Museum, Castleford Civic Society, and Castleford Heritage Trust, the project connects archaeology with community heritage.
We look forward to the experience being used within the museum galleries and as a resource for Key Stage 2 students in school, helping young learners explore Roman heritage in an engaging, interactive way.
