Talking Tigers

Category: Health & Wellbeing; Cultural Heritage      Client: Tigers Trust      Date: June 2018 – March 2019

With Tigers Trust (the charitable arm of Castleford Tigers RLFC), One to One Development Trust are leading this project working with volunteers, carers and people with or at risk of dementia. A group meet regularly to share their memories of the Club. This relaxed and safe space will be open to all people of retirement age, or those with dementia and their carers.

We are developing a dementia friendly app linked to the Castleford Tigers Virtual Museum. Volunteers will be trained to use the app and supported in taking the project to care homes and out within the wider community.

Key sites or venues throughout Castleford are signing up for the project. These will become Talking Tigers ‘dementia friendly Hot Spots’ where participants can use a QR code to find stories about the heritage of the Club that link to venue where they are. A printed map of all contributing venues will also be produced as a Heritage Trail.
